Realistic Colored Pencil Drawings by Marcello Barenghi

Italian artist Marcello Barenghi draws incredibly realistically with the help of colored pencils and occasionally markers or watercolor. His subjects – everyday objects such as soda cans, playing cards or crumpled banknotes. Each drawing takes the artist approximately 4 to 6 hours to complete.

Marcello Barenghi was born in Milan in 1969. As a child he showed great artistic skills; when he was just 9 years old he was impressed from the Leonardo's Mona Lisa and tried to reproduce it. In the 80's Marcello discovered colored pencils, but he immediately felt the need to find out a different technique that would allow him to cover large areas, shading and avoid the grainy look of colored pencils. Meanwhile, at school he started drawing from life using the blood-red pencil and it was then he began learning the techniques of tempera, watercolors and clay modeling.

Finally, in 1985, the discovery of the airbrush allowed him to improve the texture of his illustrations. In the late '80s, while attending the school "Art and message" in Milan, Marcello Barenghi other artists who influenced his education.

Marcello Barenghi currently lives and works in Milan.
