Pop Culture Dystopia

May 4, 2018 0 comments

Dystopian future is a favorite trope among movie directors, writers and artists alike. Decaying landscape, overgrown bushes, and crumbling ruins make for some fascinating views. In this series, Prague-based 3D illustrator Filip Hodas imagines everyday pop-culture icons as giant robots, lying abandoned and corroded in a dystopian landscape. We see popular characters like Pac man, Hello kitty, Mickey Mouse, Futurama’s Bender, McDonald’s Happy Meal and Stormtrooper’s helmet among others.

All images were produced digitally using a range of tools such as Cinema 4D, Octane Render, 3D Coat, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, World Machine, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Zbrush and so on. Hodas says that the main goal of this series was learning how to use these software and the improvement of his skills. His “daily renders” that he posts on Behance are also worth seeing.
