The Eye Deceiving Body Art of Craig Tracy

Craig Tracy, an artist from New Orleans, USA, is one of the finest body painter you will ever see. He spends up to nine hours painstakingly applying water-based paint to his volunteers' bodies before photographing them in unique poses. Some of his paintings use only human volunteers while on others he merges them with backdrops to give the display depth. His creations are so complex that it's difficult to distinguish between the art and the bodies. Can you spot the bodies in the following pictures? (Here are more pictures showing various stages of a painting)

Brick Testament - Stories from the Bible retold in Lego

The Brick Testament is an amusing and rather bold project, particularly because of it’s satirical and tongue-in-cheek approach that highlights the Bible’s silly and macabre side. Not to mention it’s created completely in Lego. The website carries more than 4,500 illustrations, depicting more than 400 Bible tales from Genesis to Revelations.

Launched first as a website in 2001, then as a published book series in 2003, The Brick Testament project is an ongoing one-man labor of love, constructed and photographed entirely by The Rev. Brendan Powell Smith.

Here are some pictures I picked up randomly from the website.

The Amazing Crayon Art Of Christian Faur

Christian Faur is an artist based in Granville, Ohio. Looking for a new technique, he experimented with painting with wax, but he didn't feel the results were satisfactory. Then, at Christmas in 2005, his young daughter opened a box of 120 Crayola crayons he'd bought her, and everything clicked into place. Faur decided he would create pictures out of the crayons themselves, packing thousands of them together so they become like the colored pixels on a TV screen.

Bikini Parade in Sydney

More bikini news (see the earlier post). The other day, which will be November 12, 2009, hundreds of residents of Sydney took to the streets in bikinis and undies to try and set a new record for the world's largest swimwear parade. Sigh!. They were also trying to raise funds for charity. However, the official Guinness World Record which is held by a South African parade that saw 287 swimwear enthusiasts turn out, couldn’t be matched up in numbers as only a little more than 200 residents took part in the parade.

Record Breaking Bikini Shoot By Cosmopolitan And Gillette

Cosmopolitan Magazine and Gillette Venus made a record attempt for the biggest bikini shoot in Africa at Camps Bay Beach in Cape Town, South Africa, today i.e. November 14, 2009. It’s not known how many participants took part and whether the record was successfully broken. Last year, Cosmopolitan pulled a similar stunt by assembling 1,200 bathing suit clad beauties at Miami.

The low quality of some of the pictures is regretted. This is all I could manage.

Women in World War 2

Before the start of the Second World War, women were expected to be 'housewives' or perhaps to do certain 'women's jobs', such as nursing or being a domestic servant or shop assistant. The war changed the world of work for women for ever. When men went to fight, women were called upon to fill their jobs, and this included many jobs that were previously thought of unsuitable for women. Women were called upon to work in factories making bombs and aircraft parts, as air raid wardens, driving tanks, building shops and so on. Life.com published a great collection of photos of women in various activities in the World War 2.
