Ali Alamedy’s Miniature Dioramas

Feb 19, 2015 1 comments

Ali Alamedy is an Iraq-born, Turkey-based art director who loves making miniature models using materials any typical person would throw away - aluminum foil, paper clips, plastic rods, and foam board. His attention to detail is amazing. A self-taught artist, Alamedy learned the secrets of model making by searching the web, reading tutorials, and posting the results back on Facebook. Soon his work attracted people from around the world drawn to the art of miniatures.

Born in Karbala, about 100km from Baghdad, Alamedy spent his childhood with his mother and aunt. When his father was imprisoned as a dissident by the Saddam Hussein regime, Alamedy retreated to art and reading for solace. As the tales he read seemingly came to life, he envisioned each scene in his head as it unfolded. At sixteen he bought his first computer and began searching for 3D software. Alamedy has been making models ever since.
