Before And After Pictures of Japan’s Tsunami Cleanup Progress

Jun 13, 2011 5 comments

Nearly three months after the devastating earthquake and tsunami, Japan is still struggling to clear the debris. In a series of photos taken by the AP, parts of Japan hit by the earthquake and tsunami are shown shortly after the disaster, then after nearly three months of cleanup efforts. It’s amazing to see the effort in some places to restore life to as normal as possible, while in other areas, it seems they have not yet started or simply given up. Either way, Japan has a long way to go. (Also see Before And After Satellite Photo’s of Japan’s Earthquake And Tsunami)

  1. w0w unbelievable after 3mos from the devastating tsunami, Japan was able to to get rid off the mess of the tsunami that hit the country 3 mos ago as shown in these pixs. This only shows how disciplined the Government and the people of Japan. This proves that the Government of Japan is NOT CORRUPT. The government officials are doing what they can GIVE for the people and NOT what they can GET from their people. The tax of Japan's people are going back to them and are NOT GOING TO THE POCKETS OF THEIR ELECTED OFFICIALS. How i wish all Asian countries will emulate the people and the Government of Japan. GOD BLESS JAPAN MORE.

    1. The Japanese PEOPLE did a remarkable job recovering from the tsunami. But here it is 5 years later and still Fukushima Daiichi is spewing radiation into the Pacific. All caused by a government that enabled TEPCO to lie and kill and continue to lie and kill. I guess my definition of corrupt must be different than yours...

  3. I saw sea walls on almost the entire coast when I went to Japan and kept thinking they weren't high enough. But higher and no one could have seen the ocean! You can't stop living for something that may not happen... And how do you know how high if safe?
