Hobbit Bar in New Zealand

If you are a Lord of the Rings fan, here is another reason to visit New Zealand. A Hobbit-style bar called the Green Dragon Pub has opened at Hobbiton near Matamata - the same location where the movies were filmed. Art director and project manager Brian Massey led the construction of the Green Dragon Pub, and a team of 80 labourers assisted in adding the themed attraction to the beautiful stretch of land. The bar was reportedly opened by none other than New Zealand’s prime minister John Key himself.

  1. I was here just last December. The entire experience was surprisingly tasteful. I was expecting a cast of actors dressed up like hobbits trying to "recreate a sense of the fictional community" and all that jazz. No, this was just amazing sets, knowledgeable guides and a pretty cool pub at the end of the tour.

FYI - The picture above with the dwarves in the barrels is NOT part of the experience. That looks ripped from a magazine promo.

    1. No, there would have to be midgets playing hobbit, for it to be authentic. A right rip-off, otherwise. And karaoke. Hobbits love karaoke.

  2. I would love to toast that lovely little crumpet.
